The Vancouver rain jacket is waterproof and windproof, yet breathable, quiet, and comfortable. A waterproof film, durable water repellant (DWR) treatment, factory seam sealing, and coated, waterproof zippers with storm flaps all combine to keep the wet out. Those same details, plus cinch cuffs and a bottom hem seal, also block the wind. Even still, the microfiber polyester material is vapor permeable, which keeps this jacket breathable and quiet.

Element4 Properties: WATER, WIND

Element4 Concept

Peter Millar's new "Element4" concept is simple: offer performance apparel, with a clear explanation of what that word performance actually means. Each garment in the Element4 line is labeled by a word associated with its chief property: water, wind, warmth, or wicking. A jacket labeled "water" will, as expected, be virtually waterproof, while a shirt labeled "wicking" will, as expected, pull moisture away from your body. Once you know the weather, putting together the day's outfit is as simple as collecting the words you need. For example, if you're worried about summer showers while playing Augusta, we'd suggest one wicking and one water layer.

There is, of course, a great deal of technical know-how underpinning the Elements4 line. The Whistler Fleece, for instance, has been tested and rated at 12CFM (cubic feet per minute), making it far more wind-resistant than typical, 250CFM fleeces. The Vancouver and Toronto rain shells are laminated, seam-sealed, and treated with DWR (durable water-repellant) finishes. In other words, Peter Millar has done quite a bit of research to make sure those words water, wind, warmth, and wicking actually offer performance you can feel.
