Drafted by the 49ers out of Notre Dame in 1979, QB Joe Montana is arguably the greatest quarterback to have ever played in the NFL. He certainly was one of the most successful. While Montana won many passing titles and set numerous records throwing the ball, his most impressive accomplishment on his football resume were the W's. With the Niners, he captured an astounding nine divisional championships. More impressively, he was victorious in four Super Bowls - XVI, XIX, XXIII, and XXIV. His outstanding play in Super Bowls XVI, XIX, and XXIV earned him Most Valuable Player honors in each game - an unprecedented level of success on the sport's largest stage.
