Harry Vardon, one of the all time greatest English golfers and inventor of the Vardon grip and modern golf playing style. Vardon dominated world golf in the early 20th century from England, travelling to America to win the US Open once and back again in 1913 to compete with Ted Ray against young Francis Ouimet in the famous Greatest Game Ever Played at Brookline, MA. Ouimet ended up winning the playoff match between Ray and Vardon and went onto his own glory and the moderization of golf in America.
