Size Matters
Just because you prefer 9 ft. pool tables to the 7 footers, doesn't mean that you'll actually be able to fit one in your house. Before purchasing a pool table you need to take 2 things into consideration: the size of the room and the playing area. What is playing area you ask? Generally, the "playing area" is considered to be the size of the pool table, in this case 4.5' x 9'. However, in actuality the playing area includes not only the size of the table, but the length of the cue as well. For example, your beloved 9 ft. table coupled with a 52 in. cue requires a minimum playing area of 13' x 17'. And if you bump that cue length to 58 in., the playing area shoots up to 14' x 18' - meaning that in order for you to purchase a 9 ft. pool table with 58 in. cues you would need a room that was a minimum of 14' x 18'. Also, think about the other items you'd like to have in the room (bar, bar stools, couch, 60' plasma TV, etc) to make sure that everything not only fits, but looks good as well.
