San Francisco Gets Its Barbershop
For years now, we have casually maintained the Gentleman's Guide to New York, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. It is not meant to be a comprehensive list of steak houses, cigar shops, and barbershops, but a carefully edited directory of businesses that share the same points of view as we do. And for the history of that list, there has been no entry for San Francisco's Best Barbershop.
Until now! March 11th will mark the official Grand Opening of MR. The Barbershop in San Francisco's Financial District. And like the new upscale barber spas that have launched in New York, DC, Vegas, Chicago, LA, and elsewhere, this is not your grandfather's barber shop. The 100" plasma screen in the lobby is the first indicator. The LCD screens over the shampoo stations is a second.
And the bar? Don't get us started. MR. has a liquor license and beautiful merchandise displayed in the bar (courtesy of On The Fly). That is, if you can take your eyes off the bartenders.
MR.'s model is primarily membership-based, with different options for the Player, the Hitter, and the Mogul. All of the services are performed using Moxie For Men grooming products -- as high-end as you can get. We'll be there tomorrow as guinea pigs for the staff. Stop in for a cut and shave, and tell them we sent you.
