Review of the Bourne Ultimatum

There are certain movies that are right in the wheelhouse of our customers' lifestyles, and the Bourne series is certainly a franchise that, it is safe to say, 90% or more of our customers have watched over the past few years. So the $64,000 question is: "Can the third installment possibly be as good as the first two?" The simple answer: Yes.

I relish my perceived duty to see movies like this on the opening weekend (if not opening night) so I can report back to the billions of anxious readers awaiting my verdict on the movie, so I feed off the energy that you feel in a packed theater for an anticipated feel. I've seen the last few Bond movies, Ocean's 11-13, both Bourne movies all on opening nights, yet this is the first time I have ever been to a movie where, after an intense fight scene, the entire theater erupted in applause.

The Bourne Ultimatum has already gotten plenty of positive reviews, so you don't have to take my word for it, but I realized tonight why I enjoy the series so much. Especially in the latest film, you feel like you're watching a world-class chess match...except it's full contact chess. And unlike typical heist movies like Ocean's Eleven or The Italian Job, where the audience is let in on the scheme that has already been meticulously planned out, the action in the Bourne series -- especially in this last one -- feels so much more spontaneous. You might even say "on-the-fly".

While our typical customer probably watches the movie aspiring to be like the good-looking, multi-lingual, Aikido master Jason Bourne, he probably also wishes he had the resources of the CIA-of-the-movies at his fingertips. As a modern gentleman, I have to say that on-call assasins in every country is definitely the must-have accessory for Fall.
