Own a Piece of 007 History

Aston Martin DB5A 1930 Duesenberg Model J LWB Dual Cowl Phaeton is expected to fetch a cool mil to $1.5M. A 1937 Bugatti T57C Aravis Drophead Coupe might go for as much as $1.4M. But the auction we'll be watching is for the 1964 Aston Martin DB5 driven by none other than James Bond in Goldfinger and Thunderball.

Only four of them were ever made, all for the Bond films, and they include the gadgets that Bond required for his job: headlight-hidden machine guns, a wheel-mounted tire slasher, and the revolving license plate.

Ok, the machine guns and tire slashers are props, but they're options you still won't find on an Aston Martin price list even 40 years later. A man can dream, can't he?

The auction is hosted by RM Auctions, and this will be their sixth annual Classic Car Auction. Other cars expected for the auction include a 1928 Cadillac built for Al Capone (estimated to sell for $250,000 to $500,000), and a 1964 Pontiac Bonneville made for Hank Williams Jr. that comes bedazzled with 18 pistols, 547 silver dollars, 12 silver horseshoes and 17 sterling silver horse heads. With an estimated price of $100,000-$200,000, it just may be the bargain of the bunch.
