Downtime in Boston?

I will be in Boston for a couple days next week, and thought it would be a good excuse to do some legwork on the Modern Gentleman's Guide to Boston. While I plan to use the interwebs to find some of the places I'll visit, I figured it would be even better to go directly to those that share many of my preferences: you, our loyal blog reader.

Any thoughts on the best steak house in Boston (no chains please)? Best martini? Barbershop? Wine shop? Spot for a business lunch?

Well for best Martini I'd say it's a toss up between "The Oak Room" which is located in the Copley Plaza on St. James Ave near copley or "Eastern Standard" in Kenmore square.

Oak room's martini is a little more about show, served in stemless glasses that come in a small bucket of ice. They also have live jazz on saturday nights there and a good collection of single malts.

Eastern Standard makes well crafted drinks and the martini is no exception.

Also make sure to visit Leavitt and Pierce in Harvard square. They're a great tabacco and gentleman's store.

Drinkboston.com maintains a rather reliable list of "best bars": http://drinkboston.com/bars/

For your purposes, I would suggest Drink, the aforementioned Eastern Standard, or (in Cambridge) Craigie On Main. Eastern Standard is also decent for lunch.
