A Different Car for Every Date

There is something so...classic about classic cars. But for the luxury of owning a piece of automobile history, you pay a price. Not just in acquiring the car, but in its maintenance, upkeep, insurance, and taxes. A couple of businesses have popped up to solve these exact issues.

Taking lessons from the "timeshare" and "fractional jet ownership" concepts, classic car clubs have sprouted up that provide members with access to a variety of vintage cars without the hassles of ownership. Going to Napa, try the Morgan 8 pictured above. Dinner at Gary Danko? Take the Bentley Turbo R.

The pioneer in the category is San Francisco's own Club Sportiva.Their 15-car collection includes a '62 Corvette Convertible, '61 Porsche 356, and a Lotus Esprit 4 among other vintage beauties. Members include legendary racer Mario Andretti and Apollo 12 astronaut Dick Gordon.

New Yorkers are not without their version. The Classic Car Club Manhattan employs an almost identical model, and offers access to the likes of a '65 Shelby Cobra and a '89 Rolls Royce Corniche II.

For the Wall Street types, Arizona's Van Horssen Group offers a "fractional ownership" model for sure-to-be-classics like the Maybach, Porsche GT3, and the Aston Martin DB9.

There's still a couple months of sunshine left - what are you waiting for?
