And We're Back

On The Fly Store...Not that we ever left really. This last weekend, it was all-hands on-deck to merchandise our first retail store in the heart of San Francisco's Financial District in Embarcadero Center. Our new neighbors include Coach, Crane & Co., and Victoria's Secret, and a couple hundred thousand office tenants in the skyscraper above us.

The store is 1,300 square feet, chock full of as much stuff as we could fit into the space. By far, the most noticeable fixtures of the new space are the giant Kodiak bear attacking a bookcase of Michael Toschi shoes, a walrus head adorned with Lee Allison bow ties on its tusks, and elephant leg stools displaying Mulholland Brothers bags. There is one more major fixture on its way, but parts are still on order and I won't spoil the surprise. The color palette includes chocolate brown and light blue with several shades of tan for depth (or at least that's what our architect says).

So what sold out of the store on Day 1? If anything, the day's sales were pretty good validation of our core premise as a lifestyle concept in that we sold something from just about every category. We sold an Ike Behar sport shirt and a few pairs of Pantherella cashmere socks, accessories like the extremely sleek Martin Dingman Driving Gloves, a Bill Lavin belt, an M-Clip, some Knotz, and a Xikar cigar cutter. The Art of Shaving and Truefitt & Hill also got on the scoreboard with several sales out of Grooming.

Until our photographer is in tomorrow, an iPhone photo will have to suffice. More photos to follow.
