The current Presidential campaign has been going on for almost 2 years now. The longest, and most expensive Presidential campaign in history, and there's no reason to think 2012 won't break both records. I would like to think that all of our customers or readers - sponges of knowledge that they are -- have learned a lot in the last 2 years. Here is what I've learned:

• We are still a long way from civil discourse about the major issues of the day. Despite major problems facing our country, the coverage of this campaign from just about every media source - mainstream or not -  was severely lacking in policy debate. Sure, we may all know the general themes of both campaigns on health care, energy, the economy, Iraq, Iran, etc. But can you point to much discussion of the intricacies of either candidates' policies? Or their themes on second and third tier issues?
• Google Reader can save you a ton of time if you are a blog addict (I'm sure that's true of any feed reader, but I was definitely late to the game and if you were waiting for a recommendation from me, I apologize). Hopefully, you have our blog's feed set up in your reader!
• More about Alaska than I ever cared to know (no disrespect to our Alaskan customers -- we love ya).
  
• Male politicians will probably always believe they have to wear a red or blue tie as if that demonstrates their patriotism. But, man, does that get old.
  
• If Bob Barr, pulls off a stunner, he will be "the first mustachioed occupant of the White House since Teddy Roosevelt? Even if you don't like the man, vote the mustache! This would be change we can see."
• There really is no excuse, in a country as wealthy and advanced as ours, for 8-hour lines to vote (or even 2 hours), let alone days to count the votes (more likely on state-wide or local issues that are tight).
  
• I'm normally a "Vote on Election Day" guy because I feel there's a certain electricity that you feel in the air at the polls that day. But I voted early this year, still waited in line an hour, and even though it did feel good to feel the energy of other people voting, I may have been converted to a Vote-By-Mail guy from here on out. Maybe that's why online shopping has become so popular ;-)
